The Wealth from Waste cluster has launched the report ‘Australian Opportunities in a Circular Economy for Metals: Findings of the Wealth from Waste Cluster’. This report draws together the key findings from the five universities, highlighting the significant local and global opportunities for a circular economy for metals in Australia. The research highlights the key resource data, technological innovations, novel business models, and policy change needed to help overcome the barriers to a future circular economy and charts a pathway forward for industry, government and researchers. The report was launched at the Powering the change to a circular economy conference in Adelaide on November 16 and is now available to download here.
The Wealth from Waste Cluster is identifying Australian opportunities to derive value from recycling above ground resources in ‘urban mines’, enhanced by the introduction of national product stewardship legislation. Novel science, which connects social, economic and institutional dimensions to industrial ecology models, underpins the research.
