The Queensland Waste Avoidance and Resource Productivity Strategy (2014-2024) was published in December 2014 ahead of the elaboration of detailed action plans to be published in 2015 for managing ‘priority’ waste streams. These include: plastics, organic waste, high-volume waste, and ‘regional impact’ waste. Although metals and metal bearing products are not explicitly prioritised, they do fall under priority streams, e.g., batteries represent a high volume waste stream.
